Easter Mass

I found myself almost in tears today at church. Easter is pretty much as holy of holy days as you get in the Catholic Church. The renewing of your baptismal vows are pretty remarkable and its not every day that this happens. Yes, I am thankful that everyone finds their way back to the church on special days. Of course I hope that this one mass reminds them of what they are missing and they want to return each week. And yes, of course it is nice to see all the kids dressed in the Easter finest. However, I draw the line when parents cannot control their kids and ruin the entire mass for everyone else around them. If your 3 children are talking, screaming and playing so loudly that I can hear them over the music, and you are doing nothing about it, I have a problem.

Once Mass was over I asked my parents if I was ever that bad in church. Of course the answer was not the overwhelming "no, of course not, you were a perfect angel" that I had hoped for, but I did get the "well, maybe not that bad..." wow. Thanks parents. Anyways, I did have to apologize to my parents if I caused a ruckus in church because that was just down right embarrassing.

You will all be happy to know the father FINALLY took the youngest boy out of mass after the homily. Too late, but much appreciated. My dad cheered and waved goodbye. I do have to say the little boy was definitely provoked and the middle child (a girl) was by far the worst!

So, I just have one favor to the wonderful world of parenting, please do not make Easter Mass your child's first ever mass. They are not learning anything and you are ruining it for the rest of the people around them. And please, do not let your children behave that way, and then go to communion like nothing happened. The entire world of church goers thank you!

John 20: 1-9

[1] And on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalen cometh early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre; and she saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre. [2] She ran, therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. [3] Peter therefore went out, and that other disciple, and they came to the sepulchre. [4] And they both ran together, and that other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. [5] And when he stooped down, he saw the linen cloths lying; but yet he went not in. [6] Then cometh Simon Peter, following him, and went into the sepulchre, and saw the linen cloths lying, [7] And the napkin that had been about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but apart, wrapped up into one place. [8] Then that other disciple also went in, who came first to the sepulchre: and he saw, and believed. [9] For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead
