The important things in life...a reserved parking space!

Recently my parking space was replaced with grass. After a few phone calls, my space was returned to another location...a little further away, but still reserved.
All is now well in the world!

word of the day!

I'm getting a Spanish word of the day texted to me by a fabulous RA. Today's word I requested was:

popcorn

This is the response:

WORD OF THE DAY: some people say popcorn=palomitas de maiz...but that's whack. In Peru we say "canchita" or "cancha :)

love it!

It's a Great Day...

To not be in the office...

They are pulling up the sidewalk in front of the building and one might think they are coming through the wall. They are using that claw machine that looks like they are trying to get a stuffed animal from the cage, however, they are trying to break the sidewalk and pull it up. Looks just as challenging!

The only good thing about these renovations is I don't need an alarm clock. I am wide awake when they begin at 7am.

The Head RAs are back so I will be in Head RA training in the Student Center all day...

Nationals Game

We took Marlee to her first baseball game and she is now both a Nats fan AND a Ryan Zimmerman fan! Girl after my own heart. We picked a good game because not only did we luck out and get $5 grandstand seats, but we also got Nyger Morgan bobble heads!! Nationals beat the Phillies after Ryan Zimmerman hit a walk off homerun! Phillies fans were NOT happy campers on the metro! outstanding.

Ryan Zimmerman is definitely my #1 guy! I found out this weekend that his bestie is Adam Dunn, my close #2 guy!! So cute!! Love them!!

Sunday with Jesus

Yesterday, Father Barkett's homily really hit home with me. I believe the homily started out talking about death (I was a little fuzzy at the beginning...took me a minute to catch on to what he was talking about)...but what really hit home with me was that he spent some time talking about really living life, not just checking things off your list as you go through life. It came at a perfect time for me and helped me realize that I have a long list of things to do, but to really stop and enjoy life!

I am getting really hung up on where I should be as a 30 year old and not where I am. I really have accomplished a lot in my 30 years and have a lot to be thankful for. However, I keep thinking about the things that I have yet to do (marriage, kids, grand kids, milk a cow, travel to all 50 states!).

I left church feeling refreshed and ready to start August on the right foot. This summer has really flown by and I cannot believe it is already August 2nd.

All in all, good day at church!

In case you are interested, here is the Gospel from August 1.

Gospel Luke 12: 13-21

Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”
He replied to him,
“Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?”
Then he said to the crowd,
“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of possessions.”

Then he told them a parable.
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, ‘What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?’
And he said, ‘This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
rest, eat, drink, be merry!”’
But God said to him,
‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’
Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves
but are not rich in what matters to God.”
