The grass IS greener on the other side
New Job/New Life=SUCCESS!!
I have to say that I have learned more in the last three months then I have learned in the last five years. Just taking time to do research and take advantage of free professional development has taught me so much that is beneficial to my current position, but also my career growth.
It took over a year to get a bonus at SU, and I got a bigger bonus in the first three months working at NOVA then I ever got at SU! kind of amazing and definitely encouraging.
I am grateful for a new opportunity and I don't think it could have come at a better time.

Fairfax Fair
So, as little girls, Alyssa and I went to the Fairfax Fair and decided to ride some crazy carnival ride that sends these little carts spining around in circles. It starts low and then gets higher and you know its rickity because its a traveling show. Anyways...we get stuck at the top (on an angle of course). So, we proceed to scream until they let us down.
xoxo
Well, fast forward 20 years later...We are going back!
Third Eye Blind is playing and we just can't resist the fair food and fireworks.
ok folks, use your imagination: Picture this ride, but all the seats are individual (2 seaters) but it spins at an angle like that. #awkward.

What Would Dr. Morton Do
My job is hard for a couple of reasons. It is a new position so no one really knows what I am supposed to be doing. AND I am obviously new, so I don't really know what I am supposed to be doing. I was very excited and hit the ground running learning about the Community College system as well as insider tips for Distance Learning. However, I feel like I have hit a road block. What will make people want to come to campus to get the same information they can get through their computer? What would make people want to come to a live webinar, when it would just be easier to have a recorded session on their ipod so they can listen on the car ride home?
I often find myself thinking...what would Dr. Morton do or What would she tell me to do? I do not know the answer.

Kenny Chesney at Fed Ex Field
Kenny was at Fed Ex this past Saturday and I have to say it wasn't all I had hoped and dreamed Kenny would be. He played some old favorites and some new ones and he definitely put on a show, but I was not in love with the venue. I felt like it was hard to see and hard to hear/understand him.
However, I would say I have a new favorite Kenny song! His old ones are usually my favorites, but You and Tequila with Grace Potter is beautiful!! I also love his speaking voice. He really makes you think he is playing just for you.

PS. It's a Deena Carter song

and waiting some more...
I talked to Brian today and found out that things are moving along swimmingly. They need 60-90 days to close, which was kind of a bummer, but at the same time makes sense. I was thinking that meant September 1st, but Brian said we could ask for July 31 and see what happens with that. So, that was that.
