WASH-NAS-TCB

Day 1 and 2:

We left the house on Thursday morning at 5:30am for an 8:30am flight to Nassau. We checked bags, made it through security and to the gate by 6:30am! Record time! Our flight to Nassau was on time and uneventful. There was some debate on the time change in the Bahamas. Mom and I thought (with help from the internet) that there was no time change, but Dad and Tony thought there was a 1-hour time change. We were due to arrive in Nassau at 11:11. When we arrived the pilot told us the current temperature was 81 degrees and the current time was 12:15. Surprised by this, we all continued our debate about geography and the time change. After making it off the plane, through customs and getting our bags, we saw a clock on the wall that said the time was 12:00! Tony's phone updated to the local time of 1:00pm. So the confusion continued. We did finally find out that there is not a time changed here in The Bahamas, however, everyone makes their own rules and functions on their own time! Laura and Ben confirmed that there are guidelines, but no rules here in The Bahamas!

We had until 4:00pm until our flight left for Treasure Cay (The Abacos) so we took a cab to The Fish Fry for lunch. I had an amazing Fish Sandwich. We made it back and had a long line for security, but made it to the one gate in the terminal.

Our 30 minute flight from Nassau to TCB that was supposed to leave at 4:00 did not leave until 4:40. But Laura was waiting for us at the TCB airport when we arrived at 5:15 with our rental car! The airport was about the size of a living room and baggage claim was just right off the side of the plane!

We came to the house, met Frank, saw the boat and went out to the Marina for Pizza. We came back for a Hot Tub at the house, and all crashed about 9pm!

This morning we were up early, exchanged rental cars and then were out on the boat at 10:30. Lots of pictures from today!! The water is an amazing color blue. Laura and Ben are great sailors and showed us around the Sea of Abaco. Sadly we didn't see any Dolphins. Laura and Ben said this was probably the first day since North Carolina that they haven't seen Dolphins! We sailed until about 1:30pm and went back to the Marina then back to the house for lunch. Laura and Ben had some things to do on the boat to prepare for the storm that is arriving in a few days. Everyone else enjoyed their books on the patio.

We found the Catholic Church so we are able to go to Christmas Mass tomorrow. We called and talked to Father Roger to figure out Mass Times. He said "Midnight mass is at 10pm then we have a mass at 7 am and 9 am". Kind of made us all laugh!

Merry Christmas!!

  1. Maybe you didn't see any dolphins because they were celebrating Christmas with their families deep in the ocean
